Part-time Child/Adolescent/Parent Therapist

Brooke Marlin Psychotherapy is an in-person practice in Astoria, Queens, dedicated to children, adolescents and parents. Our practice emphasizes expertise in the use of psychodynamic play therapy as well as clinically informed parent work. We integrate numerous lenses including attachment, trauma, child-development, psychoanalytic, and Internal Family Systems. Many of our clients are neurodiverse. We are a team of clinicians who value learning, community, and access to care. In addition to psychotherapy, we regularly engage with the larger community via projects, workshops, and collaborations.

Qualifications
 

  • Must be professionally licensed to practice in New York State as either an LMSW, LCSW or LMHC

  • At least 1 year of experience providing psychotherapy (can include internship experience)

  • Experience working with children, adolescents and/or parents in a clinical capacity (can include internship experience)

  • Familiarity with using a psychodynamic lens preferred

  • Training and/or experience in play therapy is strongly preferred

  • Current or previous institute training preferred

Responsibilities
 

  • Work in-person 2-3 afternoons per week, with the option for weekend daytime hours

  • Maintain a caseload of 9-10 child/adolescent clients, plus corresponding parent work. Option to add additional parent and adult cases virtually or in-person

  • Meet with parents (virtually or in-person) during morning/daytime hours

  • Provide psychodynamic play therapy to children and "talk" therapy to adolescents

  • Meet regularly with parents to collaborate around child's treatment

  • Interest in learning to work with parents psychodynamically 

  • Engage in "collateral" calls with teachers, psychiatrists, etc.

  • Participate in weekly supervision

  • Maintain progress notes and treatment records using software system, Theranest

  • Know or learn the models/perspectives utilized by the practice

  • Attend trainings provided by practice as well as relevant outside trainings. Demonstrate a "lifelong learner" mentality

  • Participate in and/or spearhead community-based projects

  • Work collaboratively with other members of the practice

  • Respond professionally and in a timely manner to practice-related emails
