When your child is struggling, it affects the whole family. Hettie helps children feel understood and helps parents feel more confident in how they support them.

She works with children, families, and adults who are facing big feelings, challenging behaviors, and life transitions like divorce, loss, or immigration.

Whether your child is dealing with anxiety, school refusal, frequent meltdowns, or a recent loss, therapy with Hettie offers a space where they can feel seen and begin to heal.

With younger children, she uses play therapy—a gentle, evidence-based approach that allows kids to express emotions they may not have words for. With adolescents and adults, she offers talk therapy, creating space to explore thoughts, relationships, and identity with empathy and honesty. All of her work is grounded in curiosity, trust, and deep respect for each client’s unique story.

She also partners closely with parents to help them better understand what their child is experiencing and develop strategies that support growth without relying on shame or quick fixes.

One of her clients, a 7-year-old boy, came to therapy angry and shut down. “I hate myself. I hate school. I don’t want to be here,” he said, convinced therapy meant something was wrong with him. Over time, he opened up about missing his dad, feeling unseen at home, and carrying a heavy sense of shame. After their work together, he was expressing his emotions more clearly, improving in school, fighting less with his sister, helping out at home without resistance, and had made new friends.

These are the kinds of transformations Hettie helps make possible when a child is given the space to feel safe, know they’re not alone, and be fully understood.
